Daffodil Cupcakes - Perfect for Mothers Day and Easter

There's nothing like the personal touch when it comes to presents, and a box of hand decorated homemade cupcakes makes a lovely gift for anyone - and with both Mothers Day and Easter just around the corner now is the perfect time put this into practice with these pretty daffodil cupcakes.

The beauty of these daffodil cake decorations is that you do not need any cutters or special equipment to make them - just coloured sugarpaste and cocktail sticks.

There are 2 versions of the cupcake toppers to choose from, neither are difficult to make but you will need to set aside around an hour to make them including drying time.

Creative Cupcake Decorating - The Eyes Have It

They say the eyes are the windows of the soul ~ I don't know if that's true or not, but when it comes to cupcake decorating the eyes certainly have the ability to add character to any cake - it's certainly a tip I give to anyone attending one of my cupcake decorating classes.

When it comes to kids and cupcake decorating, they love it to be able to make something recognisable or fun - and one of the best ways to do that is to add eyes. After all how many times have you been presented with something that looks like nothing more than a splodge of buttercream on cake and you've had to say 'That's lovely ~ what is it?'.

Eyes turn things into something, and give character - take the swirly whirly monsters above for example, without the eyes they are no more than a swirl of multi-coloured buttercream. With the eyes (and tongue) they take on characters all of their own.

Of course eyes can be added to almost any cupcake design, be it a flower, swirl of buttercream, or random assortment of sprinkles - it's a quick and simple trick of adding life to your cakes without any tricky techniques.
