Cupcakes make great presents, and if you make them yourself they also make very cost effective presents which is always a bonus. However, if you're not practiced in the art it can be a challenge to decorate them ~ at least with something a little more original than sprinkles. Not that there's anything wrong with sprinkles but do that a few times and your nearest and dearest will begin to suspect that either:
a) you have a sprinkle fetish, or
b) that's your entire cupcake decorating repertoire
